Peter Prothero has been in Christian ministry for more than 40 years, serving as a pastor, teacher, church leader and leadership coach. His passion is to equip leaders and churches to become healthy, fruitful and effective in fulfilling the vision God has given them.

Peter has extensive experience of leading churches through seasons of growth and transition. From 2007 to 2019 he served as Senior Pastor of Equippers Church Surrey, growing it from a congregation of 35 people to a thriving church of more than 1,000 meeting across four locations. In 2019 he handed leadership of the church to Ps Mark and Monica Collard and joined the Equippers Global Team.

Over the next five years Peter travelled extensively throughout Europe, Australasia, the USA and beyond, preaching in churches and at conferences, training leaders, and helping younger pastors develop their teams, their churches and their leadership capacity.

Peter has also served in Bible college leadership and teaching, heading the leadership training department at Acts Academy in Denmark. He holds an MA in Leadership and Organisational Development from Lancaster University, combining theological depth with four decades of practical ministry experience. He is the author of Church Leadership: The Stuff You Usually Learn the Hard Way and The Soft and Hard Sides of Leadership: How to Avoid Being a Wimp or Megalomaniac, with a third book currently in development.

In May 2024, Peter and his wife Jacquie accepted the leadership of Edge Church Bristol. Following the church's decision to join the Equippers family, it became Equippers Bristol in September 2024. Peter is now focused on helping the church build on its strong foundations, develop its people and leadership, and fulfil its vision to win souls, make disciples, transform communities and impact nations.

Affectionately known as "P3" (Pastor Peter Prothero), he is passionate about seeing people equipped for life and ministry. He and Jacquie have six adult children and five grandchildren.
